EXPERTISE

Fintech & Digital Finance

A coherent legal model for financial innovation, investment and delivery.

A financial product needs a clear allocation of responsibility from the outset. Adad advises financial institutions, founders, investors and technology providers on the Qatar legal aspects of fintech businesses, digital payments and financial services partnerships.

We follow the service through its operating model: who receives or holds funds, who contracts with the customer, how transactions settle and where information moves. This analysis informs the regulatory assessment, proposed structure and sequence of work before launch.

We advise on licensing-related submissions, bank-fintech partnerships, payment and platform agreements, outsourcing, customer terms, data use and investment documents. Product design and contractual responsibility are considered together, including the consequences of a failed transaction, interrupted service or change of provider.

Digital-asset proposals require an assessment of the particular activity, applicable framework and permissions. We distinguish requirements of Qatar Central Bank from the separate QFC framework, including restrictions on excluded tokens; a commercial registration or technology label is not a substitute for a required financial-services authorisation. As products and partnerships evolve, we help clients revisit the legal model and coordinate with overseas counsel where the service extends beyond Qatar.

THE DECISIONS THAT MATTER

01

The regulated activity

Understand the flow of funds, service obligations and customer relationships before selecting a legal or licensing route.

02

The allocation of responsibility

Make the contracts clear on customer duties, settlement, data, outsourcing, operational failure and regulatory cooperation.

03

The investment case

Examine licences, intellectual property, key partners and governance alongside the terms on which capital enters the business.
