EXPERTISE

Inheritance & Estates

Advice on substantial estates, inherited business interests and disputes over ownership and division.

An estate may include company shares, investment holdings, property and assets in several jurisdictions. Adad advises heirs and other interested parties on the Qatar legal issues arising from substantial estates, including ownership, division and related disputes.

We help you establish the relevant facts, the basis of your interest and the procedures that apply, taking account of the deceased’s nationality, the location of assets and the rules governing the particular estate. The work can include applications concerning heirship, advice on the estate’s assets and liabilities, and representation in dealings with the competent court and authorities. We explain who has authority to act and which steps require consent or approval.

A proposed division must account for the rights attached to the estate and the applicable succession rules, including relevant Sharia requirements. We assess wills, debts, ownership records and the position of minors or other persons requiring legal protection. Where the estate includes a business, we consider management, income and shareholder arrangements alongside the inheritance process.

We advise on negotiated division, documented arrangements between heirs, disputed ownership and inheritance claims. Where overseas assets or proceedings are involved, we coordinate with counsel in the relevant jurisdiction. At the outset, we establish whose interests we represent and address any conflict before accepting the instruction.
